SRE Technologies Ltd have extensive experience in working within the education sector, this lead us to create a brand new revolution within schools ICT departments, combining High Tech learning with a renewable energy infrastructure.
The Green ICT Suite – Carbon Free ICT learning for Schools and Colleges
A design concept that has been drawn together through discussions and meetings with specialists in their fields of expertise has culminated in the birth of a “carbon free” Information Communication & Technology suite of computers. We have called it “Green ICT” and it is powered entirely by natural renewable energy sources.
There is no limit to the number of computers that can be designed into the system, a school could have 100 workstations or more running at the same time with no loss of power or interruption to ICT even in the unlikely event of a National Grid power failure.
The benefits of the design, we believe, have tremendous value particularly in education as well as meeting CO2 carbon emission reduction targets and dovetails nicely into “Building Schools for the Future”, “Sustainable Schools for Pupils, Communities and Environment”, “Every Child Matters” and Eco Schools Green Flag award and all the components that go into those initiatives and programmes to make them work.
The design also maps over to include a readable dashboard with recordable and extractable data that can be included in Maths, Sciences, Geography, and Citizenship. The data is real time and therefore adds an extra dimension of reality to lessons. http://dashboards.my-tmac.co.uk/sre/
The system also incorporates the ability for pupils to re-charge their mobile phones, handheld games consoles, iPODs/iPADS and other DC electrical goods and take them home fully charged direct from renewable energy generation….a real tangible real-time benefit for the children.
Laptops and laptop mobile cabinets can also be recharged overnight, ready for the next day’s lessons.
The concept was brand new; the technologies that make it happen as a concept were not and have in the past tended to work in isolation successfully on their own. What the team did was to think way outside the box with a vision of “how can we make ICT and renewable energy work together for kids in the classroom”. That was our starting point 4 years ago, and today, we have working models that would be suitable from Primary schools through to colleges and universities.
So the purpose of this concept is to outline an exciting new development in linking renewable energy generation and ICT together that is fit for purpose, deliverable, cost effective and meets many of the drivers and targets established today to make learning, teaching and knowledge, transferable to tomorrows world...…today.
